In this paper, we explore the application of signal processing methods to the design of optical monitoring equipment for use in optical networks. In particular, we study inverse signal processing to enhance the performance of optical power spectrum estimation, based on low finesse (low Q) tunable optical filters. We consider both batch and recursive methods. Simulation results confirm that accurate power spectrum estimates can be achieved using the proposed techniques.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
