Aluminum is a widely used material in the aerospace and automotive sector, and several studies have been conducted to improve the mechanical performance of aluminum during the casting process. In the present study, a novel approach is used to improve the mechanical properties of aluminum. During which the ceria ceramic was mixed with aluminum during the stir-casting process. Further, Vickers Micro Hardness Testing was used to investigate the thermo-mechanical properties of materials, such as microstructure and hardness. Additionally, the results were simulated using FEM, and significant parameters determining various thermomechanical properties of the composite were identified. The results indicate the use of ceria ceramic improves aluminum's mechanical properties.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
