ChemInform Abstract is determined in the range 0-1.5 wt.% Mn and 0-10 wt.% Al using such special sampling techniques as centrifuging and rapid quenching. The microstructure analysis includes XRD and microprobe analysis. The results show that the solubility of Mn decreases rapidly with increasing Al concentration and increases with increasing temperature. Among the equilibrium phases detected (β-Mn(Al), η-Al8Mn5, Al11Mn4) η-Al8Mn5 is the main intermetallic phase in molten Mg containing 4-10 wt.% Al. β-Mn(Al) is the quilibrium phase in alloys with 4 wt.% Al above 730 rc C and in alloys with 0.8 wt.% Al. Al11Mn4 is the equilibrium phase below 670 rc C in Mg-10 wt.% Al-Mn. During cooling to 20 rc C ε-AlMn is formed together with the Al-rich phases Al6Mn, Al4Mn, Al11Mn4, and -Al8Mn5.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
