This paper reviews key contributions to library marketing literature, from the early 1970s through the present. Many of the bibliographic citations lead to hundreds of publications authored over the last 30 years. As marketing developed in the United States and western culture, the majority of the publications are in English. The authors solicit contributions from non-Western authors and others considered key by readers to be included in a second article.
