Disseminated coccidioidomycosis in a nonendemic area can be difficult to diagnose, even with an excellent clinical history, as almost every organ system can be involved. Widespread disease can be seen and spinal involvement can easily be mistaken for malignancy, Pott's disease, or other granulomatous disease. Miliary disease with concomitant breast involvement is a rare presentation of disseminated disease. Detection of specific radiographic patterns of involvement and recognition of travel to or from an endemic area can lead to an accurate diagnosis and earlier treatment.
Qualitative research methods were used to explore the dynamics of racist bullying of, and retaliation by. Aboriginal students in a large, predominantly White, urban high school. Transcripts of recorded interviews and discussion groups with 11 Aboriginal students aged between 13 and 17 were analysed. Bullying by White students mainly took the form of verbal abuse, whereas retaliation by Aboriginal students was predominantly in the form of physical attacks. Aboriginal students tended to deal with bullying at the peer group level rather than by seeking adult intervention. This appears to have been because of poor teacher response and institutional racism. Recommendations are made for dealing with bullying issues in the school setting, and for future research.
Salivary oncocytic masses as a group are rare, and there are few reported cases of benign nodular oncocytosis. Because most of these cases are published in the pathology literature and few include imaging, radiologists may not be familiar with this entity. We present a case of benign
nodular oncocytosis of the parotid gland, discuss the imaging appearance and pathologic features, and review the characteristics that distinguish this entity from other diagnostic considerations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
