This NDS is a next standardized Physical Storage Format for maps in navigation systems to Europe car manufacturers. According to NDS, this paper introduces an optimal path planning algorithm based on NDS, mainly including layers turn, path expansion, cost calculation and backtracking of path calculation. In vehicle navigation system, path matching often go wrong when road condition is complex, especially there are island ring, or exit and entrance of highway. This lead to wrong map display and wrong route guidance, thus system give a bad impact to driver.
