Three new sesquiterpenes, named phomoarcherins A-C (1-3), and four known compounds, kampanol A (4), R-mevalonolactone, ergosterol, and ergosterol peroxide, were isolated from the endophytic fungus Phomopsis archeri. These structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic evidence. The structure and absolute configuration of 1 were confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis of its p-bromobenzoate derivative (1a). Compounds 1-4 showed cytotoxicity against five cholangiocarcinoma cell lines (0.1-19.6 μg/mL), while 1 and 2 exhibited weak cytotoxicity against the KB cell line with IC(50) values of 42.1 and 9.4 μg/mL, respectively. In addition, compound 2 showed antimalarial activity against Plasmodium falciparum with an IC(50) value of 0.79 μg/mL.
A new naphthoquinone, named eleuthinone A ( 8), two new anthraquinones, named eleuthraquinone A and B ( 12, 13), a naphthalene derivative, named eleucanarol ( 14) were isolated from the bulbs of ELEUTHERINE AMERICANA, together with two new natural products previously synthesized, and nine known compounds. Their structures were established based on spectroscopic evidence. Their antibacterial activities against STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS ATCC25923 and ATCC27664, an enterotoxin producing strain were investigated.
The purpose of this study was to build a project-based learning (PjBL) model using Susan A. Ambrose et al. cycle’s metacognition conceptual framework. The PjBL approach was created to improve the preservice science teacher’s metacognitive skills. Methods: To modify the PjBL strategy, this study began with a basic review of PjBL and metacognitive skills backgrounds. Results: A panel of experts used the item-objective congruence index (IOC) at five distinct levels to evaluate the validity of the PjBL model. The PjBL model’s appropriateness rating was calculated as 4.56, which showed that it was very suited.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
