Based on Law no. 20 of 2003 education is the right of all Indonesian citizens, including persons with disabilities, especially in this article, namely people who are blind. The research objective is to develop technology-based teaching media for blind people. The learning media developed will help blind people learn mathematics independently like normal people in utilizing the sophistication of existing technology for independent learning. The application will be called Digital Mathematics Learning Companion (DMLC). DMLC is an application on the Android platform that is intended as a companion teacher for the visually impaired in learning mathematics. The DMLC application is an application on the Android platform that was developed with the facility of using voice both from instructions and commands to run the application. The application also allows users whose targets are visually impaired students to learn independently without being assisted by a special assistant teacher and run the application as a whole using voice commands and tap assistance as another alternative. In addition, users who cannot write braille can take advantage of this application to repeat the material until the user understands the material presented. The DMLC application can work optimally and effectively. Keywords: Android Application, DMLC, Blind
To reduce the spread of Covid-19 which is increasingly spreading, the government is conducting a Study From Home program or learning from home which is carried out online by the Ministry of Education and Culture's circular letter Number 4 of 2020 on March 24, 2020, which contains about the Implementation of Education Policies in an Emergency in Spread Covid-19. The purpose of this study is to collect and allocate impacts arising from the spread of Covid-19 on online learning, especially in mathematics in MAN 1 Lampung Selatan. The method used is descriptive qualitative by selecting subjects as many as 28 students using the Quota Sampling technique. Data collection was done by distributing questionnaires and interviews. Based on the calculation of indicator achievement, it was found that 68% of MAN 1 Lampung Selatan students felt the impact of Covid-19 on online mathematics learning, 67% of school services on online learning, while the constraints in online mathematics learning were 61% with an average calculation of indicator achievement of 65 %. This shows that the spread of Covid-19 has an impact and causes difficulties in the online mathematics learning process.
The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of generation Z's understanding of the history of mathematics. The population of this study was students of the Indonesian Teknokrat University Mathematics Education class of 2017 and 2018 who had taken philosophy and history of mathematics courses. Subject selection is done by the saturated sampling method, where the number of samples used is the same as the population. The sample used is still classified as generation Z because it was born in 1998-2001. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with data collection techniques using a questionnaire containing 20 questions. From the research results, it is stated that the history of mathematics is very important to be applied and integrated into the mathematics learning process. This can be shown by obtaining the percentage of achievement of the indicators in positive questions of 75%. The understanding of the history of mathematics according to generation Z, namely 74% can foster enthusiasm, skills, and confidence in the learning process, 84% can be used as a strategy in the learning process, 74% increase motivation to explore mathematics, 68% can compare mathematics with ancient techniques and current techniques, 58% can know more or less the origins of mathematics and 84% know more about the character behind the formulas used in mathematics. However, as many as 53% of generation Z still have a low interest in the history of mathematics and 63% of generation Z give an opinion that the history of mathematics does not change their impression that mathematics is scary.
Mathematical learning can never be separated from the arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division operations. Arithmetic operations that are still widely complained of by junior high school students or equivalent are multiplication arithmetic operations. This study aims to determine the location of students' difficulties in multiplication operations. The analysis technique in this article uses quantitative methods with descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The subjects of this study were 25 junior high students in Lampung Province. Difficulties faced by students is that it is difficult to understand the intentions of the questions which reach 40%, these difficulties which trigger other difficulties arise. These difficulties include unit multiplication operations, tens, hundreds to thousands. Researchers collected data using a Google form web-based interactive service questionnaire by giving a test in the form of 10 story questions and a column of reasons for difficulty while working on the questions. The questions given refer to the level of difficulty, the validity of the questions with the Product Moment correlation technique for each item and the reliability that reaches 0.707 using the Cronbach Alpha method. Obtained 55% of junior high school students or equivalent difficulty when working on the problem. Keywords: Multiplication, Junior high school, Student difficulties.
