Nowadays the care and protection of the environment is one of the most important pillars of our society due to the serious deterioration of the environment. In order to promote efficient solutions with a minimum negative environmental impact on the planet, a series of research projects and growing literature have been developed with a view to advancing energy sustainability, especially in the area of renewable energy. Using bibliometric techniques, 5160 results were obtained through the Web of Science database during the period 2007-2017, and the data were collected on October 27, 2017 using the name "Renewable Energy". The results obtained provide important information for researchers to have a clearer idea about the most investigated areas and leading countries and institutions in the field.
