RESUMENLa ginecomastia puberal es un motivo de preocupación frecuente en la consulta del adolescente. En muchos casos va acompañada de un componente emocional que puede llevar a cambios en actitudes cotidianas del joven. Descartar otras etiologías, evitar estudios complementarios innecesarios, restringir las actitudes terapéuticas activas y reafirmar el carácter de variante de la normalidad es responsabilidad del pediatra y médico de adolescentes. Se describen brevemente seis preguntas eminentemente prácticas que debe responderse el médico tratante.
SUMMARYPubertal gynecomastia is a common concern in the consultation of the adolescent. Usually, it is accompanied by an emotional component that can lead to changes in everyday attitudes of youth. The responsability of the pediatrician is to rule out other etiologies, to avoid unnecessary additional studies, to limit active therapeutic attitudes, and to reaffirm the variation of normality. We briefly describe six eminently practical questions to be answered by the physician.
