Sevoflurane, thiopental, and propofol depress components of the corticospinal volley produced by transcranial electrical stimulation of motor cortex in a manner qualitatively similar to isoflurane. The findings indicate that anesthetics with primarily hypnotic actions suppress interneuronal activity in cerebral cortex.
These two companion papers a d d r e s s t h e design of Power System Stabilizers using an optimal reduced o r d e r model whose s t a t e variables a r e torque angles and speeds.The reduced o r d e r model retains t h e modes t h a t mostly affect these variables.A steady s t a t e e r r o r criterion is utilized to identify t h e modes that need to be retained. The effect of t h e other modes is compensated for through optimization of t h e steady s t a t e e r r o r criterion. The reduced o r d e r model i s used to design a linear feedback controller that takes into account the realities and constraints of electric power systems.Effectiveness of t h i s controller i s evaluated and examples, one machine-infinite b u s system and a multimachine system, a r e given to illustrate t h e advantages and effectiveness of t h e proposed approach.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
