Chlorophyllum molybdites (G. Mey.) Massee is a widespread poisonous mushroom, which when consumed causes severe gastrointestinal distress, including stomach irritation, vomiting and diarrhea. It is reported for the first time from Piauí state, Brazil. This species is described, illustrated and accompanied by color photographs of fresh basidiomes. Comments on the taxonomy are presented.
Entoloma virescens, a rare mushroom with deep blue coloring and cuboid spores, is recorded for the first time in the Caatinga biome in Brazil. The relevance of this finding is that such area is characterized by an atypical environment for the occurrence of species normally considered from temperate and humid tropical regions. The record is fully described and illustrated. Also, a brief analysis of taxonomical features and geographical distribution of the taxon are included.
Mycena margarita, a widespread agaric in the Caribbean region and recently recognized as frequently bioluminescent, is reported for the first time in Brazil, occurring on decaying wood in the Araripe National Forest, municipality of Crato, Ceará state. This species is fully described and illustrated and accompanied by color photographs of fresh basidiomata. Comments on the taxonomy and ecology of the species are presented.
