MICROSTRUCTURAL ANALYSIS IN SUPERDUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL PIPES WITH INCONEL CLADDING AS REPAIR FOR LOCAL CORROSION PERFORATIONS AbstractSuperduplex stainless steels are often used on oil extraction platforms, for conducting seawater in cooling systems, and combine good mechanical strength and high corrosion resistance. Although they have properties superior to the other stainless steels, the superduplex presents cases of perforation by corrosion, needing repairs. As an alternative to conventional repair, which is done by means of polymeric banding, this work brings the detailed study and analysis of the repair by coating the affected region with an Inconel layer using Cladding, with GMAW process. Temperature and electrical signals were monitored during the deposition procedure, as well as a detailed analysis of the microstructure and microhardness tests in the critical regions. The results demonstrated that the Inconel deposition repair technique is feasible, without impairing the properties of the pipe.
