This study was aimed to study the suitability level of waters in South Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province, for seaweed culture and fish culture in floating net cage (KJA). The stations for water sampling were appointed based on the occurrence of the seaweed culture and finfish culture in KJA in the area. Five stations were appointed, where one station representing seaweed culture area (Matandoi village waters), while four stations representing the floating net cage culture areas (Deaga, Torosik, Matandoi and Pinalantungan village waters). At each station, one point was appointed for sampling of waters for the measurement of water quality parameters and for assessment of other physical features of waters body such as, current velocity, wave height and tide level. The other water quality parameters such as, ammonia, pH, temperature, nitrite, and turbidity were measured using Water Test Kit AYI-10 in ScienPro, whereas dissolve oxygen (DO) and salinity were measured using Horiba Water Tester. The collected data were then tabulated and presented in histogram. To analyze the level of the suitability of the area for seaweed culture and floating net cage culture, the obtained data were compared to the standard water quality for the location of seaweed culture and floating net cage culture. The results show that, the territorial waters of Matandoi village is suitable for seaweed culture area. The territorial waters of Pinalantungan village, Torosik village and Matandoi village are suitable for floating net cage culture area, while territorial waters of Deaga village is less-suitable for floating net cage culture area. This study aimed to analyze the chemical composition of the Pinctada margaritifera shells in North Sulawesi. Shells were collected from 3 (three) locations, namely: the coast of Arakan Minahasa Selatan waters, Bahoi Minahasa Utara waters and Talengen waters of Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi. Three samples of shell powder each containing 100 grams, packed in a plastic bag to be analyzed using the ICP-OAS type Thermo scientific iCAP 6000 Series at the Wln (Water Laboratory Nusantara) Laboratory in Manado. The shell of P. margaritifera had macro mineral composition, namely calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and micro minerals, namely manganese and iron. Keywords: Shells, Pinctada margaritifera, Mineral
This study aimed to determine the effect of several different types of feed on absolute length growth, relative length growth, and survival rates are gouramy larvae (Osphronemus gouramy). This study used four treatments, with three replications. The treatments tested were four different types of feed on the larvae of gouramy, among others; feed worms Tubifex sp., Artemia sp.,boiled chicken egg yolk and finely pelleted feed FF-999. The experimental design used was completely randomized design. The results showed that different types of feed provided a significant influence on the absolute length growth, relative length growth and survival of larval gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy). Feed worms Tubifex sp. give the best results with an absolute value growth of 1.34 cm length, relative length of 148.87% growth, and survival of 34%. Feed worms Tubifex sp. is the best feed in promoting growth and improving survival of larval gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy). Keywords : Larvae, gourami, Tubifex, Artemia, feed
Vegetable fern species distributed throughout the world are diverse, but there is a lack of scientific data about the nutritional content of local vegetable ferns. This study aimed to provide preliminary data of Diplazium esculentum nutrition obtained from Bone Bolango District, Gorontalo area, Indonesia, in order to support the developing of pharmaceutical and mixed animal feed products. Tests for the proximate characteristics of leaf extracts and the phytochemical analysis were carried out through qualitative screening following Indonesian National Standard (SNI) Method year 2006, while the detail amino acid compound analyzed using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) method. The results showed that D. esculentum from Gorontalo Land is rich with proteins and amino acids. The amount of protein and fat is detected as 21.52 ± 2.70% and 2.47 ± 0.97% respectively. The fern also contains complete secondary metabolites in the form of alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phenolics, flavonoids, triterpenoids, steroids, and glycosides with a high amount.
