The saturated vapor of ethyllithium has been analyzed by use of a mass spectrometer. Mass peaks corresponding to LinR» -i+ (n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) were observed. The Li6R6 + and Li

Phys. 93, 357 (1990); 10.1063/1.459534Indirect process in the dissociative attachment of low energy electrons to molecules Appearance potentials and translational energies of the products resulting from several dissociative electron capture processes have been measured. Excess energies were determined for each process from the measured appearance potentials and known ground-state heats of formation of the products and reactants. As with positive ions, the results were found to agree with the predictions of classical statistical theory. Application of the method is demonstrated in determination of the electron affinity of radicals.
The appearance potentials for loss of H,O and DOH from the constitutional isomers 3,5-dideuterocyclohexanol and 4,4-dideuterocyclohexanol show, in agreement with proposals based on stereoselectivities, that 1,3 loss of water is energetically more costly than 1,4 loss of water.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
