Introduction: CECT is very accurate and sensitive investigation in evaluating the severity of acute pancreatitis and the associated complications. With the help of CT, we can manage the patient of acute pancreatitis by categorising them into mild, moderate and severe cases according to modified CT severity index and predict the clinical outcome as well. CT mainly detects the associated complication such as sterile or necrotic fluid collection, pseudocyst fomation, walled off necrosis, pleural effusion, liver cirrhosis mainly in chronic alcoholic patients vascular complications at early stage. Aim: To study the role of computed tomography in predicting severity of acute pancreatitis and its correlation with clinical outcome.
Ayurveda is the oldest science of life. The first cut wound which the newborn gets is at birth in Nabhinal paricharya is clearly explained in Charak Samhita. Due to improper Nabhinal paricharya babies are more prone to develop complications like local sepsis, septicemia, tetanus neonatorum, portal vein thrombosis, peritonitis, umbilical hernia, etc. Charaka has mentioned haridradi tailam application after cutting the umbilical cord on umbilical stump in the prevention of nabhipaka. In this study two groups of 30 newborns each irrespective of sex, weight and gestational age were selected randomly. Haridradi tailam was applied to umbilical stump till it completely shaded off. Parameters such as redness, tenderness and swelling at umbilicus, pus discharge through umbilicus were adopted to assess the effect of Haridradi Tailam. At the end of study it was found that Haridradi tailam was very effective in Nabhinal paricharya in the prevention of nabhipaka. It also reduces signs like redness, tenderness and swelling but shown insignificant changes in C-reactive protein.
Balshosha which can be correlated with undernutrition (P.E.M.) is one of such disease occurring in children due to hampered nutrition or dhatuposhana. Nutrition is necessary for maintaining growth, the effect of nutrition reflects on development. Today nutrition deficiency constitutes a major public health problem in India. The goal of treatment is to be provided adequate calories for dual purpose, to replace losses and build up nutrition to promote growth. HPERM is indicated for home remedial treatment for mild to moderate PEM (Undernutrition / Malnutrition) however condition needs to be medically intervented to prevent the worsening of the situation and to provide adequate correction. Sinhyadi Ghrita mentioned in Ashtanghridya by Vagbhata is best in balshosha. Hence an attempt was made to study the effect of sinhyadi ghrita in the management of Balshosha(undernutrition). In present study two groups containing 30 patients each suffering from undernutrition were selected randomly irrespective to sex, gestational age. Sinhyadi ghrita and HPERM combination was used as a trial group. Parameters such as weight, height, MUAC, skin elasticity, BMI, dehabla, agnibala were taken in to consideration for assessing results. At the end of study it was found that trial drug was very effective in the management of undernutrition.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
