Electron-impact ionization cross sections for Fe"+ have been calculated using relativistic distortedwave methods. We have performed the most comprehensive calculation to date by including more than 10000 autoionizing levels for resonant-excitation double-autoionization (REDA) processes. The total cross sections exhibit many strong narrow resonances. The REDA process contributes about 30% to the average total cross sections. General good agreement between theory and experiment is attained, but new experimental investigations are needed to search for the predicted resonances.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
