Import dependence of national economies has reached a critical point in the context of globalization and political sanctions. Russia's import dependence has different levels in different sectors of the economy. One of the highest levels of import dependence in Russia is observed in the automotive industry, where the share of import dependence averages 22%. Specifically, this indicator reaches 15.7% for passenger cars and 29% for trucks. Regarding mining dump trucks, imports increased by 48% from 2017 to 2021. This challenge poses the task of resuming domestic production to reduce import dependence and increase GDP, as well as create new high-tech jobs for the country's citizens. Along with the revival of domestic production of mining trucks, it is becoming a global trend to create and operate heavy vehicle platforms that operate autonomously, using unmanned technology. This creates unprecedented opportunities to solve the problem of environmental pollution by exhaust gasses from internal combustion engines, especially diesel ones.
