The preparation and some physical properties of complexes of the types [MX,L,] where M = Re, Ru, or 0 s and [MX,L,] where M = Re, 0 s . or Ir and L = tertiary monophosphines are described. A few tertiary monoarsine analogues are also included.
Ir; X = CI or Br; L = mono(tertiary phosphine) or mono(tertiary arsine)] are described. The former group g e n era I I y h av e transc o n f i g u ratio n s a n d the I at t e r meridional. The structural configurations of the complexes with tzs4 metal electron configurations are reliably determined by I H n.m.r. spectral measurements. These have shown that the complexes [ReCi,( PR3),] have mer-configurations and the complexes [OsCI,( PR, ), ] probably have trans-configurations. For complexes with t 2: configurations only broad IH n.m.r. spectra were observed, which, except for [RuCI,(PMe,Ph),],were of no use for structural assignments. However, e.s.r. spectral measurements have confirmed the suggested configurations for the t i : complexes.Far-i.r. studies in the solid state have in general supported the above configurations but are not definitive, especially where complexes of transition elements of the Third Period are concerned.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
