The boat was discovered in a paleochannel of the Seine river. Dugout of an oak log, it had a length of approximately 14 m for an aver âge width ο f 0,90 m from the sides, with a flat bottom. The date obtained by radiocarbon (Ly - 5891 = 1305 ± 65 BP) has been confirmed by dendrochronology (834 A D for the tree's felling date). The ends have a succession of transversal pads on the bottom made when the trunk was dugout. The impact of the tools used suggests it was hollowed out by shattering from the transversal ridges dugout with an adze. The whole construction, carried out with great care, the regularity of the sides and planking show an excellent mastery of woodwork. A piece of wood roughly adjusted was placed after the removal of the timber of the first main branch.
