This article aims to know how it is exercised leadership in the information age and knowledge in two companies in the city of Valencia, State of Rio de Janeiro. It was verified how leaders invest in value, quality of working life and professional training of employees. It was verified also, as is communication and knowledge management. bibliographical and field surveys were conducted. The interview was the focused type, in which, even without obeying a formal structure is using a script composed of open questions, directed to the leader. The results were recorded, transcribed, analyzed and interpreted through content analysis method. The results were positive in the surveyed companies and show that there is an appreciation of its employees and investing in their professional development.

The business environment is permeated by uncertainty and volatility, making the activities related to the ever-challenging decision making for administrators. In the current context, it is fundamental premise for continuous evaluation of the assets applied in the organizations, be they of any segment or size. This article aims to evaluate the financial performance of companies in a simulated environment in business games by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) using as a base the analysis of current liquidity ratios, profitability and apital structure, demonstrating, through these indices, the industry involved in the game that obtained the best performance.

Apesar do Brasil ser um país de dimensões continentais e com muita terra com potencial de plantio, o transporte ferroviário brasileiro no período de 1890 a 2016 ficou aquém das necessidades do país e a malha é relativamente pequena se comparada com a de outros países que apresentaram mais desenvolvimento econômico. O objetivo do presente estudo é apresentar um panorama da evolução histórica da malha ferroviária brasileira entre 1890 a 2016. Realiza-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica de fonte indireta na qual se busca conhecer a evolução ocorrida no período. Verifica-se que há um período no qual há o incentivo dos Governos às rodovias em detrimento ao transporte ferroviário e, mesmo assim a evolução está ocorrendo, nos anos mais recente principalmente por meio do processo de desestatização do setor e a concessão de trechos para a iniciativa privada.
