Hence, although some dir donation appears to be necessary for the formation of [Ir(NH3)3NH]1 23 4+ from [Ir(NH3)=,N3]2+, extensive electron transfer leads to loss of nitrene-like properties of the resulting ligand. We propose the name "coordinated nitrene" to describe the NH ligand in [Ir(NH3)6NH]3+ as a means of distinguishing compounds of this type from the formally similar alkyl-and arylimido and nitrido ligands of [Re-{P(CH3)2C6H5j2CI3NR) and [Re{P(CH3)2C6H3}3CI2N] which show very different chemical behavior.Acknowledgment. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
