The authors report systematic measurements of the Seebeck coefficient and the electrical conductivity of solid and liquid Mg-Sb, and evaluate the potential of these alloys for thermoelectric power generation. While estimated device efficiencies for the alloys studied do not exceed about 2%, comparison of the properties of these alloys with the commercially successful alloy Pb-Te, as well as analysis of their data, provide some promise for improved device design.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
