Subjects were 500 students (220 males and 280 females), ages 13 to 16 years, drawn from 10 secondary schools in Calabar, Nigeria. Data were obtained using a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Data analysis indicates that significant gender differences exist in terms of perception of HIV/AIDS in favor of the males. Significant positive relationship also was found between adolescents' perception of HIV/AIDS and attitude toward HIV/AIDS preventive programs.
