ChemInform Abstract The Pt complexes (III) are obtained by the oxidative addition of the CH2-O bond of (II) to (I). The reaction follows second-order kinetics, and the rate does not correlate with solvent polarity though the reaction is faster in hydroxylic solvents. Two probable mechanisms are discussed. (IIIb) is characterized by X-ray diffraction studies (Pbca, Z = 8). The reactions of (IIIb) with MeI or HCl lead to isomeric mixtures; the reaction with HCl is reversed on addition of base. In the reaction with MeI, (Va) is obtained in 95% yield after 16 h at 20 rc C.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
