This study aimed to validate the results of Nursing selected from the link NANDA-I-NOC (Nursing Outcomes Classification--NANDA--International) for diagnosis Ineffective Breathing Pattern and Impaired Spontaneous Ventilation in adult intensive care unit. This is a content validation study conducted in a university hospital in southern Brazil with 15 expert nurses with clinical experience and knowledge of the ratings. The instruments contained five-point Likert scales to rate the importance of each outcome (1st step) and indicator (Step 2) for the diagnoses studied. We calculated weighted averages for each outcome/indicator, considering) 1 = 0. 2 = 0.25, 3 = 0.50 4 = 0.75 and 5 = 1. The outcomes suggested by the NOC with averages above 0.8 were considered validated as well as the indicators. The results Respiratory State--airway permeability (Ineffective Breathing Patterns) and 11 indicators, and Response to mechanical ventilation: adult (Impaired Spontaneous Ventilation) with 26 indicators were validated.
The purpose of this research is to explore the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) applicability on hospitalized orthopedic patients diagnosed with Self-care Deficit: bathing/hygiene. This is a quantitative, descriptive study developed in a university hospital with patients submitted to total hip replacement in 2008. The data collection instrument was composed of 24 NOC Self-care outcome indicator: Self-care: Activities of Daily Living; Self-care: Bathing; Self-care: Hygiene; Self-care: Oral Hygiene; and a Likert scale in which 1 = dependent 2 = does not participate; 3 = requires an assistant; 4 = independent but requires an assistant mechanism; 5 = completely independent. 25 patients bathing on first and third post-operative day were observed. Ethical aspects were respected. In 21 cases there was significant statistical variation between average scores from first to second bath. NOC classification scales presented internal consistency, proving their reliability to measure the patient evolution during nursing care implementation.
Objective: To describe the elaboration and validation of a protocol for administration of enteral nutrition. Method: Validation study by consensus of experts conducted in a university hospital. The construction took place after literature review. The validation was guided by the tool: plan, do, study and act. For validation of the final protocol, 100% consensus was considered. After implementation, preceded by training, evaluation was carried out by using indicators. Results: The protocol describes the actions that guide the nursing team in enteral nutrition. In the validation, there was a 100% consensus on the protocol items. The presential training brought together 425 participants in 80 meetings. After the pilot period, the rate of care for patients with enteral nutrition increased from 39.5% to 73.3%. There was a reduction of 41 hours in the time to release the X-ray report. Conclusion: The protocol provided elements for the prevention of adverse events in patients with enteral nutrition.
