Esports organisations and athletes, being participants of an attention-driven market, are constantly discussed, compared and evaluated by spectators in a cross-media-based process on such platforms as Twitch, Reddit and others. In this work, we discuss an approach to analyse valuation practices related to esports spectatorship based on the concepts of a brand as an organising device, using computational text analysis tools and reconstruction of personal networks.
Social science is witnessing tremendous growth of data available on the Internet regarding social phenomena; however, social science students are typically not prepared for managing the challenges and opportunities of analysing online data. One of the areas where this growth is especially important is in social studies of consumption. This article discusses a prototype of a visualisation tool intended to support the learning of netnographic analysis with computational tools.
In recent years, conversational agents (CAs) have been receiving more attention as tools for collecting data through qualitative interviews. The problem is we know little about how CAs affect both the interviewees and interviewers. This PhD project is dedicated to studying how to evaluate CA-mediated interviews and their effects on participants (both interviewees and interviewers). The findings of this project will allow us to support the interview practitioners with the tools for interview analytics and interview data analysis. It will be especially helpful in the large-scale settings which CA-mediated interviews enable. This proposal describes State-ofthe-art on the topic and presents the motivation of a study with key research questions to answer.
