A new germ tube induction medium, composed of three parts Rabbit Coagulase Plasma with EDTA (BBl Mlicrobiology Systems) and two parts Tryp-Soy broth (Scott Laboratories, Inc.), was effective for the presumptive identification of Candida albica,is. This medium was safer to use, more accurate, and less expensive than other commercial germ tube induction media.
To identify the factors which control glycogen synthesis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, we have studied the regulation of glycogen metabolism during sporulation, since in vivo glycogen has been reported to undergo significant changes in concentration during this process. We examined the concentration of a number of key glycolytic intermediates and enzymes in strains that sporulate at different rates and those that are deficient in sporulation. There were no significant changes found in the adenylate energy charge or cyclic AMP levels throughout sporulation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
