There are some problems in teaching English faced the high school many teachers and students. Based on the observation in one of good senior high schools, it was found out some weaknesses in teaching English. The teaching process relied on the exercises in the student book. The teaching activity was more teacher center. The teacher never made development on the materials, which were more challenging. As a result, the students were not trained to have critical thinking. This could be seen when the teacher asked questions, they answered using short answer, without any elaboration. This influences the ability of their critical thinking. Actually, graduates of high schools should be equipped with skills to face the Industrial era 4.0. The skills are Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication. All teachers can train those skills when they teach, including English teachers. Therefore, this research aims at describing how the teaching model Sekawan-P can enhance the students’ critical thinking in speaking skill. The study was a Lesson Study (LS) program between an English teacher of SMAN 1 Kediri and three lecturers of Nusantara PGRI Kediri University. They worked together to solve the problems mentioned above using this teaching model. They revised the existing lesson plan and materials, made improvement, and revised the teaching plan. The results show that after they applied Sekawan-P, the critical thinking of the students developed. It can be seen on how they delivered their arguments in speaking skill.

It is believed that speaking is difficult subject because it is not only learn about pronouncing the words. The writer uses quantitative approach in this research because to know the effect of problem based learning to the students’ speaking ability at the eleventh grade students of XII science class of SMAN 4 Kediri that consists of 25 students. The spoken tests, in the form of pre and post test were used to collect the data. The holistical rating on speaking rubric form was used  to score the students’ speaking ability before and after the treatments of teaching speaking using problem based learning (PBL)The research result severals that students’ skill in speaking is still considered low. The pre-test result indicated that, the totaly score of pre-test is 1306,75 and the mean of pre-test is 52,27. The highest score is 66, 67 and the lowest score of pre-test is 25. It can be concluded that mostly the students had a difficulty in speaking English. Their score is unsatisfying because the English standard score of the school is 70. By being given series of trestments with PBL students’ speaking skill improved. The totaly of post-test is 1544,75 and the mean of post-test is 61,79. The post-test result showed that  the highest score is 75. Unfortunately, the lowest score of pre-test is 30. It can be concluded that there is an increasing score of students’ speaking ability after post-test is conducted. It is clear to be seen from the changing of students’ score. There are many students get better score than before The result of this research shows that t-score is 12, 67 at the degree of freedom 24 which was higher than the value of t-table was 1,711 at the level of significance 5% and value of t-table is 2,492 at the level of significance 1%. It means that t-score was very significant.Suggestion are purposed for English teacher who should give their students stimuli, to analyze the problem and try to find solution to the problem as well. Then, for the other researcher, the researcher hopes that other researchers could improve the content of this study by adding more explanation, example, and references.

Fenomena adanya Pandemi Covid-19 mengharuskan guru melaksanakan pembelajaran secara daring. Oleh karena itu mereka dituntut untuk memanfaatkan teknologi pada pelaksanaan pembelajarannya. Mereka dapat memilih media pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif agar siswa termotivasi untuk belajar. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan interview, masih banyak guru SMK PGRI 3 Kediri yang belum memanfaatkan platform pembelajaran yang ada dalam pembelajarannya. Mereka hanya menggunakan aplikasi yang mereka kenal, seperti WhatsApp, Google Meet, dan Google Class. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, tim pengabdian masyarakat mengadakan pelatihan penggunaan platform Edmodo sebagai media interaktif pembelajaran bagi guru-guru di sekolah tersebut. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini di antaranya adalah: melatih memanfaatkan platform Edmodo untuk pembelajaran interaktif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dalam bentuk pendampingan pembuatan pembuatan akun untuk semua guru, mengenalkan fasilitas yang tersedia di Edmodo dan memanfaatkan fitur yang tersedia, dan melatih operator sekolah sebagai admin yang dapat memonitor kegiatan pembelajaran guru dengan platform tersebut. Pelatihan dilaksanakan selema satu bulan secara in dan on. Hasil pelatihan adalah semua guru sudah memiliki akun Edmodo dan akunnya terhubung dengan grup Edmodo SMK PGRI 3 Kediri yang dapat dimonitor oleh admin sekolah.

In learning, an offline system (face-to-face) and an online system can be used to learn in order to process of acquiring knowledge. However, the world is now in total lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 virus, which has forced all activities, including education, to move to an online system. Students at University of Nusantara PGRI Kediri, particularly those in the English department, use a variety of online learning support applications, in order to facilitate online learning. One application that is used for frequent is Zoom Application. The purpose of this study is to find the use of Zoom application to support online learning, and the advantages and disadvantages of Zoom application during the pandemic time for English department students at University of Nusantara PGRI Kediri. This study used qualitative research as its technique. 22 first-graders (second semester) volunteered as subjects for data collection. Interview and questionnaire chosen as its data collecting technique. The findings of the data analysis display that the use of the zoom application can bridges the online learning as well as teacher and student interactions while on the other hand, zoom application has advantages and disadvantages that must be considered.
