A golden hornbill (Rhyticeros undulates), male, one year old, reported clinical signs that one of the legs was limping. Based on the X-ray examination reported that there was a fracture of the tibiotarsus bone. External skeletal fixation (ESF) was performed for connecting bones using size 1,2 pins. The general anesthetic used was a combination of zolazepam-tiletamine at a dose of 5 mg/kgBW and given 0,1 mg/kgBW meloxicam. Postoperative therapy includes enrofloxacin at a dose of 15 mg/kg intramuscularly, dexamethasone at a dose of 0,2 mg/kgBW intramuscularly, and Osteocare® at a dose of 5 mg/kg orally. After five days postoperatively, the bird's condition had returned to normal. It can be concluded that fractures in birds can be treated using the ESF method.
This study aims to determine how the pH, water holding capacity and the Eber test or rot test on duck meat which taken in several traditional markets in Kediri Regency. The samples were taken as many as 30 samples from 3 different markets. From each market taken as many as 10 different samples in each market. The type of research is quantitative and descriptive using qualitative laboratory examinations. The results showed that for the pH test and water holding capacity there was no significant difference from the three markets, but in the Eber test that was carried out there were several positive and some negative samples. This is due to several factors that refer to the process of slaughtering animals, the type of animal, and the lack of sterilization of slaughterhouses and the lack of understanding for the community, therefore it is important to improve the quality of products that are safe, healthy, whole, halal.
This paper aimed to examine the management of urinary calculi of a sulcata tortoise. A 5-year-old Sulcata tortoise (Geochelon sulcata) was presented with a history of dehydration, loss of appetite, and lameness. Clinical signs and radiographic examination indicated urinary calculi in the urinary bladder. Radiographic results revealed that there was a radiopaque urinary calculi mass. Plastron osteotomy and cystotomy techniques were used to remove urinary calculi. The appetite of the tortoise returned to normal in a week after the surgery. The lateral plastron is an appropriate osteotomy technique, especially for the immediate opening of the plastron with a stone-filled bladder. This was a safe area to open plastron since it was far from the heart. This method was not beneficial for the tortoise in their infancy since it would interrupt the development of plastron formation resulting in the postoperative asymmetrical plastron structure.
The purpose of this research aims to determine the effect of adding enzymes (amylase, protease, xylanase) in feed on egg weight and egg yolk diameter in mixed ducks. The experimental animals used were 24 laying ducks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The four treatments were P0 (Control), P1 (6 ducks with Avizym1502®5gram / kg), P2 (6 ducks with Avizym1502® 10gram / kg), and P3 (6 ducks given Avizym1502). ® 15gram / kg). This treatment is carried out once a day for 9 weeks. Before the treatment, the ducks were adapted for a week. After that, the initial egg weight and yolk diameter were measured at week 0, week 6, and week 9. Data obtained from the results of weighing eggs found an average value of P0 (59.1667 ± 3.9200a) g, P1 5gram / kg (56.1667 ± 2.9268a) g, P2 10gram / kg (60.1667 ± 4.9966a) g, and P3 15gram / kg (67.6667 ± 2.7325ᵇ) g. The results of data from examining the diameter of the egg yolk found an average value of P0 (45.03 ± 1.2956a) mm, P1 5gram / kg (44.35 ± 0.7969a) mm, P2 10gram / kg (45.75 ± 1.5694a) mm, and P3 15gram / kg (48.83 ± 0.7394ᵇ) mm. The data obtained were then analyzed using the ANOVA test which statistically showed that there was a significant difference (P <0.05) between egg weight and yolk diameter in mixed ducks treated with enzymes (amylase, protease, xylanase) in the feed.
