Este trabalho relata o desenvolvimento de um magnetômetro de gradiente de campo alternado ou AGFM (Alternating Gradient Field Magnetometer) com sensibilidade adequada à caracterização magnética de nanoestruturas típicas fabricadas no LABNANO/CBPF. O magnetômetro desenvolvido apresenta alta resolução em campo magnético, sensibilidade de momento magnético de aproximadamente 10 −7 emu e opera em temperatura ambiente. Foram testados vários tipos de sensores piezoelétricos e hastes para uso no cabeçote de medida (sistema eletromecânico ressonante). Os melhores resultados foram obtidos com haste de comprimento 90 mm e diâmetro 0,8 mm operando em 2,164 kHz.This work reports the development of an Alternating Gradient Field Magnetometer (AGFM) with sensitivity suitable to characterize the typical magnetic nanostructures produced at LABNANO/CBPF. The developed magnetometer has high resolution in magnetic field and it is capable of measuring magnetic moments as low as 10 −7 emu at room temperature. Several kinds of piezoelectric sensors and glass/quartz rods were tested in order to use them in the measuring head (resonant electromechanical unit). The best results were obtained with 90 mm long, 0.8 mm diameter rods operating at 2.164kHz.
