Bu çalışma, Türkiye-Ankara ili Kazan ve Çubuk ilçeleri arasında bulunan, önemli doğa koruma alanı olan, Kazan tepelerinin Scarabaeidae faunasının belirlenmesini amaçlamıştır. Altı farklı alanda, farklı zamanlarda kurulmuş çukur tuzaklarına yakalanan örnekler incelenmiştir. Tuzaklardan 4 altfamilyaya ait 50 tür ve alt tür seviyesinde takson tespit edilmiştir. Belirlenen tür ve alt türlerin Türkiye dağılışları verilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda bu tür ile birlikte 22 tür ve alt tür Ankara ilinden ilk kez kaydedilmiştir.

Aphodiinae subfamily is represented with 6762 species and subspecies belonging to 521 genera in the Palearctic region. This family is presented by taxa of 61 genera and 161 species and subspecies in Turkey. Nineteen species are endemic to Turkey. Scarabaeidae family members can be fed on different types of food. Aphodiinae members are usually recorded from cow dung. So, they are called coprophagous insects. They play an important role in the nitrogen cycle. This study was conducted in Sündiken Mountains in Eskişehir province of Turkey, from 2011 to 2013 years. The Sündiken Mountains are rich in plant diversity and variable micro climate. Study area visited 13 different time 40 days. The samples were caught with pitfall traps, light traps and directly by hand or forceps. The aim of this study is to reveal the Aphodiinae fauna on Sündiken mountains, which is one of the important biodiversity areas in Turkey. Due to Aphodiinae's ecological roles and their largest number in Scarabaeidae family, study focused on them. The paper presented original records of 29 species where recorded from Eskisehir province. Nineteen new city records given from this province. The species distribution maps for Turkey, aedeagus and habitus photographs were presented in the study.

In this study, vapor of essential oil obtained by the hydrodistillation of Hypericum perforatum L., 1753 (Malpighiales: Hypericaceae) was tested on the different stages of Tenebrio molitor L., 1758 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae). The larvae, pupae and adult stages of T. molitor were exposed to different doses of H. perforatum essential oil for 24 h. After exposure, mortality rate, LC50, LC90 and LC99 values, antioxidant enzyme activities [superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx)], acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were measured in the insects. Tenebrio molitor was cultured at Gazi University Department of Biology and all analyses were done in Yozgat Bozok University in 2017 and 2018. The results indicated that the pupae of T. molitor were the most tolerant and adults were the most sensitive. Mortality increased with the increasing concentration of essential oil. Also, increasing doses of essential oil caused decreasing in SOD, CAT, GST GPx and AChE activities and increasing in MDA level. These results indicate that essential oil of H. perforatum can be used against T. molitor in a pest control program.

Omurgalı örneklerinin saklanmasında en sık kullanılan yöntemlerden biri de tahnit yöntemidir. Tahnit yöntemi ile arşivlenmiş bilimsel materyaller daha sonra yapılacak olan sistematik, genetik ve paleontolojik çalışmalarda kullanılabilirler. Bu çalışma ile bilinen tahnit yöntemleri yerine yeni bir metot geliştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen bu metot, sıvı veya buhar halde koku içermediği için müzelerde, öğrenci laboratuvarlarında ve sergi materyali olarak kullanımı daha zararsız ve düşük maliyetlidir. Ayrıca bu metot ile güve zararına uğramış balık tahniti örnekleri tamir edilebilmektedir.
