Teachers play a significant role in the preparation of our youth as they make important decisions about education, work, and life. Existing studies on the correlations between teaching proficiency and academic performance of the students are primarily limited to elementary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Considering the big difference between advance higher education and other educational levels, there is a need to explore the relationship of the teaching proficiency to the academic performance of the students in advance higher education. This study made use of the descriptive-correlation research design. Survey questionnaires were distributed to all advance higher education faculty members and students from School Years 2015 to 2017 at Northwest Samar State University. Statistical tools like frequency and percentage distribution, means, standard deviations, and regression analysis were used for the analysis of the data. Results showed that most of the advance higher education faculty members are male, married, doctorate holders, professionals, research-oriented, very satisfactory performers, and possess good financial status. The best predictor of the academic performance of the advance higher education students is the work experience of the faculty members.
The main concern of this study was the assessment of the faculty performance evaluation system of State Universities and Colleges in the Philippine Eastern Visayas Region. Specifically, the study sought answers to research questions on how the faculty performance is evaluated with regards to evaluation procedures, instruments, and criteria and what is the present and desired faculty performance evaluation system considering the standards on utility, feasibility, propriety, and accuracy. In search of answers to the abovementioned research questions, the researcher made use of the descriptive-assessment research design. The respondents of this study were administrators, faculty members, and students from the main campuses of State Universities and Colleges in Philippine Eastern Visayas Region. As result, the researcher found out that the most common evaluation procedure used were administrative observation in the class and the administration of appraisal instrument. Rating scales were extensively employed evaluation instrument and the most commonly used evaluation criteria were teaching commitment, mastery of the subject matter, teaching for independent learning, and classroom management. In addition, the SUCs in the Eastern Visayas Region of the Philippines unanimously expressed their desire to implement a faculty performance evaluation system that adheres to the standards of utility, feasibility, propriety, and accuracy. At the present, the existing faculty performance evaluation system of SUCs in the Eastern Visayas Region of the Philippines generally followed the standards on utility, feasibility, propriety, and accuracy.

Establishment and household-generated electronic wastes are becoming a significant problem. Literatures showed that the volume of electronic wastes generated worldwide is increasing, thus becoming a threat to the environment and human health. In the local setting, Calbayog City is experiencing the same dilemma on electronic waste. This problem prompted the researchers to conduct this study. This study aimed to assess the disposal management practices of unserviceable electronic resources as observed in Calbayog city and identify the problems encountered in the disposal management of electronic wastes resources. The questionnaire was used as the primary research instrument to gather data. The respondents of the study were households and establishments in Calbayog city. In addition to the questionnaire, the researchers conducted an interview, inventory and actual site visit to the landfill area. The overall results of the study showed that TV sets were the most common electronic wastes generated in the city (f=193); and lack of disposal facilities for ewastes as most-felt problem encountered in the disposal of electronic waste resources (f=184). The result implies that repair of electronic waste, especially TV sets, is widely practiced by the community to lessen the problem on the disposal of electronic resources.
