Objective. For obtaining the perfect balance of a removable complete denture, we have a few clinical procedures to complete, but only the analysis of the occlusal load distribution at various vertical dimensions of occlusion can give us the precise data. Method. The patient selected for this case report was a 35 years old edentulous female who requested prosthetic treatment with complete removable dentures. We followed the usual clinical steps of obtaining an acrylic denture, as well as the T-Scan III analysis during the jaw registration, in different conditions: with the occlusal wax rims, and with the trial denture in the next step, registering three different occlusal vertical dimension -understated, overstated and ideal height. Using these dimensions, we realized four mock-ups, two at the proper vertical dimensions, with various types of tooth color and shape. We analyzed the mock-ups using the T-scan III system. After the dental prosthesis was manufactured, we made another measurement with the T-scan III system. Results. After analyzing all the data from the T-scan III system, we distinguished that the most suitable solution for the patient was the proper dimension mock-up with D2 shade. Conclusions. Although the registered situations were satisfactory, the aesthetic issues are essential, and the functional aspects are fundamental, the most suitable solution in this case, was the mock-up with proper dimensions.
Background: Emergency dental care is provided at the Mureș County Emergency Hospital in Tîrgu Mureș since February 2012, however, there is little information available regarding its activity. Therefore, the aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence and diagnosis of dental emergency cases treated in this dental office over the first two years. Material and methods: This two-year retrospective study was based on the analysis of patients' dental records who were treated at the Dental Office of the Mureș County Emergency Hospital in Tîrgu Mureș. Results: In the first year 5567 patients were treated, whereas in the second year their number was significantly higher, 7213 patients. Pulp infections presented the highest prevalence in both years: 32.38% and 34.74%, respectively. Compared to the first year (n = 1,803) significantly more cases (p = 0.001) were treated with this diagnosis in the second year (n = 2,506). Periodontal infections were significantly more frequent (p <0.001) in the second year compared to the first -951 cases (13.18%) vs. 681 (12.23%) cases. Conclusions: The main reasons of emergency dental treatments were dental and periodontal infections. The results suggest that dental care is unaffordable to socially disadvantaged persons, and this fosters radical treatment of pain in this free of charge 24 h dental emergency office.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to assess the activity of the Emergency Dental Office of UPU SMURD in Tîrgu Mures since its establishment and also to compare it with the similar unit from Oradea. Methods: The two-year retrospective and comparative study is a statistical processing of non-personal data regarding the emergency dental services in the UPU SMURD Tîrgu Mures and UPU SMURD Oradea, involving the data collected in the same period at both emergency dental offices. Data based on the records analysis of the patients who were consulted and treated at the Emergency Dental Office in UPU SMURD Tîrgu Mure between February 1, 2012 – February 1, 2014 compared with similar data from Oradea. Results: Assessing the number of patients presented each month – first and second year – we can see that since the establishment of the Emergency Dental Office in Tîrgu Mure (no=12780), the number of patients showed a linear increase in the first year, and in the second year the constant number of patients present in the studied unit was higher than in the other center from Oradea (no=4886). Conclusions: The large number of patients and the nature of the cases that were present in the Emergency Dental Office in the UPU SMURD Tîrgu Mure show how necessary the set-up of this unit was.
Introduction: Oral mucositis characterized by inflammation of the oral mucosa, ulcers, angular cheilitis, accompanied by pain in the maxillary facial area are symptoms of patients who have undergone cytostatic treatment, affecting over 75% of high-risk patients.Material and methods: From the total of 182 patients with hematological malignancies, we selected 59 patients, diagnosed with malignant lymphomas and treated at the Hematology Department of the Medical Clinic 1 in Tîrgu Mureș, between July 2013 and June 2016, analyzing the data in the data observation sheets. The study is a retrospective one. Results: In the group of patients studied, who were treated based on the aforementioned cytostatic plans, we found that the CVP + Rituximab plan frequently causes 1st and 2nd class stomatitis, with no patients with 3rd and 4th class stomatitis. The CHOP + Rituximab therapy plan in a total of 80 applications had complications of 1st and 2nd class stomatitis, much more frequent 1st class without stomatitis of 2nd and 4th degree. Grade III stomatitis occurs in two cases in the CHOP-Bleo belts. Introducing dental medicine in the context of medical multidisciplinarity in oncology hematology is a real necessity because the oral complications of chemotherapy treatments by their severity can lead to compromise of the treatment protocol by reducing the doses or even stopping the treatmentConclusions: Malignant hemopathies represent a significant percentage in dental disorders, and among them, the maximum severity belongs to the non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin malignant lymphomas. Stomatitis, also called gingivotoxic stomatitis caused by medication, is an acute oral complication, with erythema and edema of the entire oral cavity. The role of the dentist in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of oral lesions, following the cytostatic therapy, is extremely important.
