The Journal of Counseling Psychology has served as a primary publication medium for theory and research on counseling for the past 15 years. Schmidt and Pepinsky (1965) cite the Journal as the primary source of publications hi the field. During the life of the Journal certain characteristics have been investigated and reported. Wrenn (1960) carried out a content analysis of Journal topics. A special Committee of the Division of Counseling Psychology (American Psychological Association, 1961) investigated the primary interests of Journal authors. Goodstein (1963) and Bohn (1966) studied the institutional affiliations of contributors to the Journal. Last, Foreman (1966) recently reviewed publication trends in counseling journals. The purpose of this paper is to review the articles contained hi the first 14 volumes of the Journal in order to determine where those who are publishing received their graduate training.
