The
complex
[(η5-C5H5)2TiB6H9]2
is prepared through the reaction of K[B6H9]
with
(η5-C5H5)2TiCl
in THF. It is a member of a small class of metalloboranes which
are edge-bonded derivatives of B6H10. The
compound is a paramagnetic dimer,
[(η5-C5H5)2TiB6H9]2.
The Ti(III) atom is formally a 17-electron species as
supported by ESR spectra. There is no evidence for Ti−Ti
interaction. The proposed structure resembles that of
[{(Ph2Me)3P}2PtB6H9]2.
