Dieulafoy's lesion is a vascular anomaly or malformation that may present with a radiologic density but more commonly with hemoptysis. The thick-walled vascular malformation is located within the bronchial wall and is susceptible to erosion of the mucosa or secondarily to inadvertent biopsy with significant bleeding. These malformations and subsequent hemoptyses present in adults, most commonly in the 5th and 6th decades, usually in the right lung, more commonly in men than in women, and with little to no association with previous infection and smoking. Though rare cases result in fatal hemorrhage, many cases may need lobe resection to control the bleeding.
