We present a revision of the genus Troglophilus in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula based on morphological and genetic analysis, and provide distribution data for the species. The results of these analyses reduced the number of the known taxa within the genus Troglophilus in this area to five valid species: Troglophilus cavicola (Kollar, 1833), Troglophilus neglectus Krauss, 1879, Troglophilus ovuliformis Karny, 1907, Troglophilus brevicauda Chopard, 1934, and Troglophilus lazaropolensis Karaman, 1958. A new species Troglophilus zorae sp. nov. is described and Troglophilus neglectus serbicus Maran, 1958, Troglophilus neglectus vlasinensis Maran, 1958, Troglophilus bukoviki Karaman, 1968 and Troglophilus pretneri Us, 1970 are synonymized. The distribution pattern of the western Balkan species supports a general east-west migration route. We also determined the centres of origin and spreading directions of particular species according to the distribution of the taxa and the structure of the haplotypes.
Eight new species or subspecies of orthopteroid insects discovered by the authors during expeditions to the Durmitor area in Montenegro are described; seven of them belong to Ensifera, Phaneropteridae: Leptophyes intermedia sp. n., Isophya clara sp. n., Poecilimon pseudornatus sp. n., Poecilimon nonveilleri sp. n., Poecilimon affinis dinaricus ssp. n., Poecilimon albolineatus sp. n., Tettigoniinae: Pachytrachis tumidus sp. n., and one to Blattodea, Ectobiinae: Phyllodromica montenegrina sp. n. Diagnostic keys to taxa of the P. affinis-ornatus group and to the species of Pachytrachis are provided. Poecilimon elegans Brunner v.W., 1878 is re-described and a lectotype selected. Diagnostic notes and images for species related to the new taxa are also given. Within the genera Isophya, Poecilimon and Pachytrachis stridulation is used to verify the status of the species studied.
Two new species of Anthroherpon belonging to the "ganglbaueri" species group are described from northern Montenegro: Anthroherpon sinjajevina n. sp. and Anthroherpon cecai n. sp. Based on morphological investigations of other species of this group, we elevate A. udrzali Giachino & Vailati from subspecies to species rank, and suggest the synonymy of A. brckoensis Giachino & Guéorguiev with A ganglbaueri alticola Knirsch. An identification key of the ganglbaueri species group (sensu Guéorguiev, 1990) is given and the distributions of species and subspecies are mapped and discussed.
The species belonging to the trechine genus Adriaphaenops Noesske, 1928 are studied. As a result, seven currently known and five newly described species are recognized. Morphological characters of the habitus (especially the shape of head and pronotum) as well as male genitalia are widely used to delimit the species. The following new species are described: A. albanicus sp. nov. (Albania, Shkodër, Boga, Thatë Mts.), A. jasminkoi sp. nov. (Bosnia & Hercegovina, Nevesinje, Novakova pećina cave), A. mlejneki sp. nov. (Montenegro, Gornje Stravče, Kučke planine Mts.), A. njegosiensis sp. nov. (Montenegro, Cetinje, Cetinjska pećina cave) and A.rumijaensis sp. nov. (Montenegro, Virpazar, Rumija Mts.). Lectotype for A. stirni (Pretner, 1959) is designated. Data on the distribution and ecology of new taxa, complemented with descriptions of the type localities are provided. Key to the identification of all twelve Adriaphaenops species, as well as a key of all hitherto known aphaenopsoid Trechini genera from Dinarides are also given.
