Impingement cooling is an important and new cooling technique used in the steel quenching process. Unfortunately, little experimental data are available on the rate of heat extraction from the steel surface. For example, as one of the most important heat treatment processes, quenching of steel refers to the cooling from the solution treating temperature, typically 845 • C-870 • C, into the hard structure martensite. This paper addresses a comprehensive literature survey on different cooling techniques and various factors affecting the heat transfer characteristics during these cooling schemes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
