The paper aimed to discuss the contribution of Shaykh Nuruddin ar-Raniry in popularizing Islamic Law through his work al-Shirath al-Mustaqim in the Nusantara. Shaykh Nuruddin ar-Raniry was a prominent scholar among the Nusantara Scholars who had a major influence on the intellectual and spiritual development of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam in the 17th century AD. He is a scholar who is known as an expert in fiqh (Islamic Law) and served as a judge (Qadli Malikul Adil) just during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Tsani. Therefore, this study aims to examine Shaykh Nuruddin Ar-Raniry's contribution to Islamic law through his book entitled as-Shirath al-Mustaqim. The research method in this study is a library study by analyzing the books of Shaykh Nuruddin ar-Raniry and other books related to this study. This study explains that Shaykh Nuruddin ar-Raniry contributed to grounding the Islamic jurisprudence of the Syafii Madhhab in Nusantara in the 17th century AD through his work as-Shirath al-Mustaqim and encouraged the later Nusantara scholars in advancing Islamic legal literacy in Nusantara. In the 17th century AD, the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam reached its golden peak and became an intellectual and spiritual center of Islam in the archipelago filled with many scholars. Among them was Shaykh Abdurrauf As-Singkili, who became the Qadli Malikul Adil of the Kingdom. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the contribution of Shaykh Abdurrauf as-Singkili to the grounding of Islamic law in the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam in the 17th century AD. The research method in this study is a literature study analyzing Sheikh Abdurrauf as-Singkili’s books and related studies. The results of this study explain that Shaykh Abdurrauf As-Singkili contributed significantly to the grounding of Islamic law in the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam when he served as the Qadli Malikul Adil, recorded the Mir’atu Thullab which was a guidebook for the qadli, and made Aceh an intellectual-spiritual center of Islam in the archipelago.
Studi ini menjelaskan kontribusi Syaikh Nuruddin al-Raniry sebagai hakim di Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam Abad ke-17. Jabatan hakim di Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam pada abad ke-17 M merupakan jabatan tinggi yang disebut sebagai qadli malikul adil. Diantara ulama yang memiliki kontribusi besar dalam peradilan saat itu adalah Syaikh Nuruddin al-Raniri. Oleh karena itulah, studi ini bertujuan untuk menelusuri kontribusi Syaikh Nuruddin ar-Raniry dalam membumikan hukum Islam lewat karyanya As-Shirath al-Mustaqim. Metode penelitian menggunakan kajian pustaka; studi diskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis-historis untuk menemukan data-data tentang kontribusi Syaikh Nuruddin ar-Raniry. Hasil kajian ini menjelaskan bahwa Syaikh Nuruddin ar-Raniry sebagai hakim berkontribusi besar dalam membumikan hukum Islam madzhab Syafi’idan mendorong literasi fikih Islam di Nusantara. This study explains the contribution of Shaykh Nuruddin al-Raniry as a judge in the 17th Century Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam. The position of judge in the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam in the 17th century AD was a high position called qadli malikul just. Among the scholars who had a major contribution to the judiciary at that time was Shaykh Nuruddin al-Raniri.Therefore, this study aims to explore the contribution of Shaykh Nuruddin ar-Raniry in grounding Islamic law through his work As-Shirath al-Mustaqim. The research method uses literature review; qualitative descriptive study with historical analysis to find data about the contribution of Shaykh Nuruddin ar-Raniry. The results of this study explain that Shaykh Nuruddin ar-Raniry as a judge contributed greatly in grounding the Islamic law of the Syafi’imadhhab and encouraging Islamic fiqh literacy in the archipelago.
