Future wireless networks will consist of multiple heterogeneous access technologies such as UMTS, WLAN and Wi-Max. The main challenge in these networks is to provide users with a wide range of services across different radio access technologies through a single mobile terminal. With regard to vertical hand off performance, there is a need for developing algorithms for connection management and optimal resource allocation for seamless mobility. The Media Independent Handover (MIH) architecture is used for the special case of handoff optimization between heterogeneous networks. The signaling messages are exchanged by triggers in 802.21 is obtained through Service Access Points (SAP). These messages must be delivered in a timely and reliable manner. In this paper, a novel solution to communicate MIH messages and to review their limitations are analyzed. An efficient solution using 3SE a Sender-Side Stream control, transport-layer protocol Extension, that modifies the Standard SCTP protocol is introduced. 3SE aims at exploiting SCTP's multi homing and multi streaming capabilities and is optimized by using MIH services. The performance is analyzed for various packet loss conditions and bandwidth capacity.
Cloud computing is one of the research areas where a large amount of studies and investigations are going on. With the advent of technology the security concerns and issues related to cloud computing are on the rise and thus they require a serious attention. In this article we have attempted a review of the cloud computing scenario; their characteristics, issues and possible solutions. The types of cloud computing can be classified as public, private and hybrid cloud computing. The services and characteristics of cloud computing are presented with a special mention to resource pooling, flexibility, accessibility, measurability and on demand cell service. The issues in cloud computing are provided with emphasis on storage security and distributed denial of service. Three methods viz data classification, layered frame work and Attribute Based Encryption (ABE) have been presented as the viable methods for improved security in cloud computing. Next the usage of cloud computing in malware detection is outlined. Finally general measures for improving security in cloud computing is discussed.
The growing consumer's demand leads a great access to communication services anywhere and at anytime. It has started to accelerate the development of technologies that would allow for the integration of various Wireless Access Technologies. With regard to vertical handoff performance, there is a critical need for developing algorithms for connection management and optimal resource allocation for seamless mobility. This study proposes a novel Vertical Handoff Decision Making Algorithm (VHDMA) based on analytic multi-objective optimization. The multi-objective cost function involves transmit power of Mobile Terminals (MTs), outage and throughput over Access Points (APs)/Base Stations (BSs). The proposed algorithm lowers the barriers and jointly optimizes all the required objectives. The results showed that the Multi-Objective (MO) optimization has the advantages of optimizing over different and conflicting objectives jointly.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
