carboxylic amidescarboxylic amides (benzene compounds) Q 0490
-107Amides of Benzoic and Heterocyclic Carboxylic Acids as Rat Liver Alcohol Dehydrogenase Inhibitors.-The title amides are readily prepared by conventional methods and tested as inhibitors of rat liver alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase. The primary benzamides (II) are shown to be effective inhibitors suppressing the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase up to 75-90%. Substitution of the amide nitrogen as in derivatives (IV) leads to a drastic decrease in inhibitory activity. Heterocyclic carboxamides (VI) are completely inactive. All the amides prepared display only slight inhibitory activity towards aldehyde dehydrogenase.-(KONOPLITSKAYA, K. L.; VINOGRADOVA, E. G.; ONYS'KO, P. P.; ZAKASHUN, T. E.; KIM, T. V.; KISELEVA, E.
