The changes in the expression of the lipogenic Fasn and Sirt4 genes and the Fasn and Sirt4 proteins they encode in the visceral adipose tissue of Wistar rats against the background of excess fat intake were studied. In addition to the standard vivarium diet, the rats received the animal fats (45 % of daily caloric value) for 8 weeks. A relative gene expression was determined by real-time PCR, protein content in the visceral adipose tissue - by the ELISA method. It was found that the excess animal fat intake leads to a decreased expression of lipogenic Fasn and Sirt4 genes and the proteins they encode in the visceral adipose tissue of Wistar rats, which indicates the formation of the adipose tissue dysfunction, which may result in the impared lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, the insulin resistance development.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
