A convenient method for the preparation of esters was developed on the basis of reaction of cagelike polycyclic olefins with carboxylic acid anhydrides and water. Mixed anhydrides were found to give rise to the corresponding low-molecular acid esters. Among the obtained esters, acetates possess a pleasant odor, and they can be used as components of synthetic fragrant substances.
Synthesis and Transformations of Norbornyl Acrylates. -A simple, convenient and more environmentally friendly procedure for the synthesis of norbornyl acrylates (III) (6 examples) and their conversion to bicyclic alcohols (V) is presented. Some of the new compounds possess a pleasant odor. -(MAMEDOV, M. K.; NABIEVA, E. K.; DZHAFAROVA, E. N.; Russ. J.
