The D = 10 -E, x E8 field theory limit of the heterotic string is compactified on the non-symmetric coset space Sp(4)/SU(2) x U(l) that is known in the limit of decoupled gravity to give three standard fermion generations, with SU (5) Allowing for non-vanishing fermion bilinear condensates, and assuming the conventional form of the supersymmetry transformations, we prove the presence of a family of N = 1 supersymmetric background field configurations. This requires the non-compact space to be flat: (Minkow~ki)~, while the 3-form HMNp is non-vanishing and proportional to the torsion on the internal manifold. All equations of motion, including that of the dilaton, are satisfied.
The effect of the elastic fields of dislocations on y-ray perturbed angular correlations in paramagnets has been investigated. The y-ray directional correlations are perturbed by magnetic hyperfine and nuclear Zeeman interactions. Tho crystal imperfections cause the hyperfine splittings to vary from ion to ion. The frequency-averaged perturbation factor taking into account these variations is obtained.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
