The results obtained using the temperature monitoring systems of the 6-m BTA telescope primary mirror, dome space, and external environment are reported. We consider the factors that affect the development of microturbulence in the near-mirror air layer and inside the dome space, variation of the telescope focal length with the temperature of its structures, variation of seeing due to temperature gradients inside the primary mirror of the 6-m telescope. The methods used in various observatories for reducing microturbulence are analyzed. We formulate suggestions concerning the improvement of the temperature monitoring system currently in operation and the system of automatic adjustment of the telescope focal length to compensate the thermal drift of the focus during observations.
The forecasts of the economic development for the next years vary among countries and projections depend greatly on how long the pandemic and social distancing will take place and on the measures that are taken place for increasing social and economic activities, commerce. Meanwhile ratings of US leadership are declining, with the worst results in Europe. The rapid spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 made US leading country in confirmed cases and created a new reality for the national economy. As to the US the fall of real gross domestic product in 2020 is expected around the average of OECD countries, more than in Japan; less than in in Great Britain, Italy, France. Unemployment rate is projected going down in 2021 (comparing with 2020) but remaining still high. Experts are examining possible outcomes of coronavirus spreading and its consequences for the dynamics of GDP, unemployment, international trade and world investment. The projections seem not very bright for the next year; and it will take time for returning to pre pandemic indicators. While forecasts of declining international trade show the fall in world merchandise exports would be large, the estimates show beginning growth in exports next year.
We used the 0.5-m robotic telescope located at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences for monitoring two square degrees of the sky with the aim of detecting new exoplanets. A dimming of the visible brightness is expected due to the exoplanets transiting their host stars. We analyzed about 25,000 raw images of stars taken in the period between August 2020 and January 2021 and plotted the light curves for about 30,000 stars on a half-year timescale. Five newly discovered exoplanet candidates are being investigated to determine their transit event parameters. We also present the light curves for dozens of binary stars.
