Summary
Seventy patients were studied using a new negative pressure uterine aspiration technique to obtain samples for endometrial cytology. Normal cytological findings were associated with a normal endometrium in all cases. There was difficulty in precise diagnosis when the cytology was abnormal, and the reasons for this are discussed. Nevertheless the method may well be of value in the early diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma.
