Fluid resuscitation with either large-volume LR solution or small-volume HSD, during uncontrolled hemorrhage from intra-abdominal vascular injury, produced hemodynamic and metabolic benefits, without additional blood loss, whereas no fluid resuscitation was associated with sustained low cardiac output and hypotension.
CCO has a delayed response during acute hemodynamic changes induced by hemorrhage and resuscitation. When sudden changes in mean arterial pressure or in mixed venous oxygen saturation are detected, cardiac output must be estimated by the standard bolus thermodilution technique, not by CCO.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
