The article presented an integrated data on talent management practices and innovation performance of academic staff in a technology-driven private university in Nigeria. The study adopted a quantitative approach with a survey research design to establish the major determinants of talent management practices. The population of this study included academic staff and the use of questionnaire was adopted to elicit from the study population. Data was analysed with the use of structural equation modelling and the field data set is made widely accessible to enable critical or a more comprehensive investigation. The findings identified talent development and retention strategies as predictors for facilitating innovation performance in the sample University. It was recommended that management of the sampled university will consistently need to adopt reliable range of strategies to attract and retain people for excellence performance.
The data examined the effect of employee resourcing strategies on corporate image. The data were generated from a total of 500 copies of questionnaire administered to the academic staff of the six (6) selected private Universities in Southwest, Nigeria, out of which four hundred and forty-three (443) were retrieved. Stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select the respondents for this study. Descriptive and Linear Regression, were used for the presentation of the data. Mean score was used as statistical tool of analysis. Therefore, the data presented in this article is made available to facilitate further and more comprehensive investigation on the subject matter.
The article presented data on the influence of conflict management strategies on productivity of Academic Staff of selected public universities in Nigeria. A total of 368 copies of questionnaire were administered to the academic staff of selected three (3) Public Universities in the South–West Zone of Nigeria and 325 copies were returned and deemed usable. This represents a response rate of 88.32%. Emphasis was laid on the year of establishment of the selected universities based on the fact that over the years, these universities are likely to have been exposed to conflicts and the strategies for managing them. The study adopted the quantitative approach with a descriptive research design to establish trends related to the objectives of the study. The questionnaire used for this study was adapted from the work of Rahim (2002) [4]. The population of this study included all the Academic Staff of the selected public universities. Data was analyzed with the use of multiple regression and structural equation modeling. The data set is made available and accessible for more comprehensive research.
This paper examined the effects of value relevance of financial statements on firms share price in Nigeria. In achieving the objectives of this research, the fact book from the Nigerian Stock Exchange Market and the audited financial statement of listed banks spanning the period 2010-2014 were used. Also, a total of 15 listed banks in the Nigerian stock exchange market were selected and analyzed for the study using the purposive sampling method. However, in analyzing the research hypotheses, the study adopted the use of both descriptive statistics and the use of Fixed Effects Panel data method of data analysis technique. Findings from the study showed that a significant positive relationship existed between earnings per share (EPS) and Last day share price (LDSP). The study recommends the need for banks in the country to improve on the quality of earnings reported, since it has a stronger ability to explaining share prices of firm.
The present changing trend and competitive business world have compelled many sectors to improve their service quality, productivity and performance. The health sector is a unique sector with peculiar work environment and developmental expectations from workers of different categories. Experts indicate that the Nigeria health sector budget is not impressive as it has never moved closer to World Health Organization template of 15% of the annual budget allocated to the health sector. Arising from this gross underfunding, the health sector has become weak while infrastructure and logistic supports seem to be obsolete with defective career initiative programmes. Hence, the present study assessed a competence model for measuring career development and growth of the health sector in Nigeria. The descriptive research design was adopted using stratified-random sampling technique with a mixed method (specifically, sequential explanatory method) approach for gathering data from the selected teaching hospitals. Six dimensions and 30 item statements of career development and organizational growth have been adopted from previous studies. The use of a structured questionnaire was employed and completely filled by 377 staff and management of the selected tertiary institutions. Data collected through the copies of questionnaire were analysed through measurement and structural models (SEM_PLS3); while interview data were codified and themes extracted. The results of the statistical analysis reveal that organizational growth significantly depends not only on the formulation and implementation of career development programmes but also on monitoring. The findings of this research have explicit implications for both the employees and the organizations. This study suggests that management will need to provide interventions and be more active in carefully implementing career management plans that will meet individual and organizational goals.
