Entrepreneurship currently is seen worldwide or globally as an efficient and effective vehicle for socio-economic growth and sustainable development. Most governments have it as a core part of their programme of governance and also committed considerable amount of resources to it, as a result of high rate of unemployment with the object of encouraging graduates after school to establish themselves and become their own bosses, instead of seeking to be employed which is non-existent. The current study seeks to analyse barriers to start-up business among graphic design graduates, Takoradi Polytechnic. The study employed survey and descriptive research method in executing the study. Data analysed in the paper revealed that; a considerable number of graphic design graduates from takoradi polytechnic were not employed after six years of graduation, majority had nursed the intention of establishing their own business ventures, the graduates preferred sole proprietorship and printing as their choice of form and type of business to pursue, they also had a great deal of knowledge on entrepreneurial agencies and support services but were ignorant of what they had to offer new and existing entrepreneurs and finally, lack of government support and funding were the significant barriers graphic design students come face to face with in the bid to establish themselves.

In recent times it is perceived technology is contributing to high levels of unemployment among graduate workers in the photography industry in Ghana. The study aimed to explore the impact of technology on employment opportunities in the industry and assess the consequences of this for Ghana. A comprehensive review of existing literature was conducted to inform the research design, which involved both qualitative and quantitative approaches to gather quality data from participants. The study involved interviews and questionnaires with a total of 23 participants, including directors of photography studios, graduate workers, and unemployed graduates seeking employment. The findings suggest that the rise of modern technology is leading to the displacement of digital photography skilled workers, with photography directors being hesitant to expand their businesses and hire more workers due to the challenging economic climate. Participants also reported facing financial constraints when trying to start their photography businesses. Based on these findings, the study provides suggestings for assuaging the impact of technological unemployment in digital photography industry in Ghana.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a six-week structured pre-press and press activities programme based on integrating theory and practice at the industrial level. The study consisted of twenty-four participants with minimal industrial skills and work experience in lithography printing faults, causes, and remedies. Purposive sampling was used. Qualitative research method and action research design were employed. Data was collected through interviews, observation, focus group discussion and tests. The study was analysed through Thematic and Descriptive analysis. Analysis of the data shows that, at the end of the six-week programme, all 12 participants who took part in the industrial training greatly improved in skill development and work experience in all aspects of the pre-press and press activities. However, the other 12 participants who did not participate in the training did not acquire any skills. This study suggests that integrating theory and practice at the industrial level could enhance graduates' skill and work experience in lithography printing faults, causes and remedies to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
